DISHWASHER INSTALLATION

An installation kit for dishwashers is available from most local appliance parts dealer. This kit contains all the parts you need, as well as the instructions you will need to install a new (or used) dishwasher. The kit includes: a flexible drain hose, copper inlet tubing, double compression reduction elbow, double compression reduction union, double compression elbow, step-down adapter, test light, strain relief bushing, wire nuts, hose clamps, and barbed union connector.
Here are some things to keep in mind before installing:

Cabinetry. The opening for your dishwasher should be 24 inches wide by 34 inches high.

Electrical Specifications. Voltage and frequency-120 volts, 60 hertz; operating load-13.5 amperes, 7.9 amperes; circuit size-20 amperes. Remember that wiring must conform to local codes as well as to the National Electrical Code.

Plumbing Specifications. It is important to note that plumbing must conform to local codes. Use ,12-inch copper tube for water line. Dishwasher has internal thread at valve. A 90-degree compression ell (furnished) should be used to connect tubing to valve. Water flow pressure at dishwasher should be 20 psi to 120 psi. Water temperature at dishwasher should be 140° F. to 160° F. Drain size requires minimum copper tubing without air gap. Drain line requires minimum copper tubing with air gap, not furnished.

Caution: Avoid getting joint compound inside new joints. The hot water fill line must be flushed of anything foreign before being connected to the dishwasher fill valve. A hand shut-off valve (which is not included in the kit) should be located in an easily accessible area, adjacent to the dishwasher.

Panel. Locate the top of the lower panel just below evaporation channel support. Insert panel flange under evaporation channel support ends and push up to engage top of panel. Lift up lower bottom flange of panel, place flange over front face of frame and push in. Fasten panel with two screws furnished. If a wood or laminated front is to be used and these panels are not immediately available, use back-up panel furnished with trim kit. Stainless-steel trim should be used to assemble wood or laminate when available. Reverse procedure when removing lower panel.
